CASE STUDIESElizabeth ArdenPretty to watch!Elizabeth Arden Australia (EAA) recognise the impact of people performance on sustainable growth and decided to get intimate with its 500 front-line staff. We worked with them to develop Arden Access, a web-based learning and communications platform to generate, deliver, track, assess and manage the flow of corporate and product information and specialised staff training. Arden Access keeps staff at the heart of their business strategy.
Challenge EAA operates primarily from concession stands inside major department stores across the nation. This busy environment provides a unique challenge to capturing and keeping the attention of staff. Paper-based communications and training are ineffective in this environment.
Solution Inclusions on Arden Access are exhaustive … news content, targeted search ability, a message board, a library of training modules, a staff induction module, video capability for presentations and a marketing section providing learners with an events calendar, comprehensive price list, product promotions and summary of staff sales incentives.
The testing function assesses employee understanding of learning modules through randomly generated questions that are linked to the learning outcomes of each module. Reporting capability allows managers to identify the strengths and weaknesses in their staff’s knowledge base and ensures consistent implementation of company ‘best practice.’ It also allows for better focus during face-to-face training where assessors can concentrate on knowledge gaps.
Results In the first six months of EEA staff using Arden Access the business reported:
• 100% of staff completed the induction module before starting on the counter • 100% improvement in visibility of staff knowledge and knowledge gaps • 100% of users said they find the system easy to use • 97% of staff find the learning content interesting and engaging • 27% reduction in face-to-face induction and staff training costs
Elizabeth Arden has verified that moving to on-line training modules have saved the business the equivalent of 300 days of on-the-floor sales!
And the bonus …. Arden Access won Gold for ‘Best Employee Induction Training Program’ in the 2009 LearnX Asia Pacific eLearning and Training Awards.
